Narvik 2003

Back

 Narvik (N) 4.-8.4. 2003

Now that Jonni was already FIN & S Ch and had had 3 CACIBs, 2 from Finland and 1 from Sweden, he still had to get one CACIB from abroad to become INT CH. That is why I planned the trip to Norway.

The trip to Norway

Start , Friday 4.4.

Our trip started on Friday morning. Our party included me and Jonni, my dad, Alpo, my friend Laura Melkinen and her dog, basset fauvé de bretagne FIN CH Garla Derrik (Riki) and her boyfriend Jouni Mitjonen. Our destination, Narvik in Norway, was a long way from Joensuu, so we had planned a four nigth trip. Our first stop was on Kemi, near Swedish border but on Finnish side. On Saturday 5.4. we travelled through Sweden to Norway and Narvik. The scenery was wonderful as you can see from the picture on the right. We were at our destination late Saturday evening.

Narvik 5.-6.4.

We arrived to Narvik late in the evening. We stayed in Gjestehus Breidablik, a nice little hotel overlooking the city. Our room was on the 4th floor DOWN but we still had a view! The hotel was built on the side of the mountain so you had a nice view from every room! There were lots of dogs in the hotel. They all had come to the show.

The day of the show

Sunday 6.4.

The show place, Narvikhalle, was near our hotel, so it did not take long to drive there. The show was not a Drive-in, but you had to stay there until all the rings were over. When we arrived at the the grounds we had plenty of time to find a place for us to settle in.
Laura and Riki were the first to go to the ring. Riki got CAC and CACIB being BOB so we had to stay for the Group competitions. I had to wait a little but then it was our turn to go in. Jonni was a bit tired from the trip and all, but he went well in the ring and the judge liked him. Jonni was BOB and got CAC and CACIB so he became both N CH and INT CH! The "Dream" had come true and sooner than I had expected! My little doggy was now an INT CH!!! GREAT! We had to stay until Groups were over. Neither of our dog was succesful.
In the evening we ALL were exhausted but happy.

New N & INT CH !

(Above a VERY tired SV , a fresh N & INT CH !)

On Monday the 7th of April we started our journey home. We stayed the night in Kemi again. At home we were on Tuesday 8.4. so our trip took us 5 days, 4 nights and nearly 2200 kms! It was hard but worth every minute of it! I would do it all over again if I had to!
